Occult & Paranormal Photography at the Met
This is pretty cool for anybody in New York and planning a visit to the city within the next few months. The Metropolitan Museum of Art just opened an exhibit only a couple days ago called The Perfect Medium: Photography and the Occult. There’s a brief item about it at the New York Magazine website here. The exhibit concentrates on the time period between 1860 and the Second World War, and looks in depth at the spiritualist phenomena popular at the time. You can find out more about it and view images from the exhibit at the Met’s website right here.

Interestingly, a couple months ago I was actually contacted by a curator looking for help on finding paranormal photography. They were from the Corcoran in DC, but wanted to meet with me in New York. Unfortunately, I wasn’t in NY at the time, so I had to decline their invitation - which is really too bad. But I wonder if this is the project which they were working on. I hope so. It looks like a fantastic exhibit.
The show runs until the end of December, and according to a much more extensive review on Boston.com, the museum has organized a series of lectures, films and gallery talks to coincide with the exhibit. Sounds awesome.
PS. Is it just me or does it look like that ghost is trying to “get frisky” with that man?

The exhibit sounds great. I am a frequent visitor to the met and was looking for a reason to go. Looks like now I have one. Once I scope it out I will let you know how it was. Maybe I’ll take my daughter there on/around all Hallow’s eve. BTW Tim, are you still in NYC?
