Furl + Del.icio.us = ?
I just thought of something that I’d really like to have as an internet tool. Now that I’m using both Furl to save pages to an online archive, and del.icio.us for social tagging purposes, it would make everything easier if I could do it all in one operation. Does anybody know of some kind of Firefox extension, plugin or bookmarklet which would allow me to do that? I’m not sure how or if it would really work, since there would necessarily need to be two separate forms being passed. Maybe it could work if they were both in an iframe in the same popup or something. Actually, that seems like it would do the trick just fine. Anybody know how to build such a tool (or if one already exists)? I’ll have to look into how complicated putting together a bookmarklet is tomorrow morning when my mind is a little fresher. Anybody knows where to get started on this, let me know.
Oh also, while I’m on the topic - has anybody had success with the pop-up version of the “add to” del.icio.us bookmarklet? Every time I try to use the one I found, it asks me to log in again. What a pain. Maybe there’s a better one out there I didn’t see?
UPDATE!
Just came across something called Alan’s Marklet Maker which is a Site Submission Multi-Tool allowing you to create a customized bookmarklet which can take advantage of any combination of more than a dozen different online bookmarking tools. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work in iframes like I was hoping - but pops open two separate windows. Not the end of the world, but I wonder if I can tinker with it to get it more seamless. In any case, it’s still slightly better than having to do each one individually.
