The Totem House

I saw this on my way in to work yesterday. I stopped off at the 7-11 for some grub, and then walked back towards the locks. The sun was rising behind it.

I’m still getting settled with work and my new sublet, but I hope to be posting some longer articles and whatnot over the weekend. Thanks for bearing with me during this time of transition for me.

stop eating meals from 7-11 you creep!

  2. Emerson Says:

People are allowed to live off of 7-11 for a few weeks after moving. It’s a law.
    Somewhere.

  3. Roy Says:

Yeah, same law that says people can use Emerson as blog handle for a couple of weeks before it gets old… I’ll just be Hemmingway for a year, cuz I’m such a good writer… lol But anyway, God created fish and I guess God can bless the world? Is that not right, or am I supposed to be making some kind of sarcastic blogger remark against god or religion or something?

    whoa, “ROY”

    whoa… easy little buddy.

Roy, I’m so sorry you’re confused. I realize my viewpoint is very fluid and could easily be misconstrued. Rest assured that this post was totally straight-faced. I photographed and shared the sign because I was pleased and reassured to find it. It brightened my day.

  6. JK Says:

    No it didn’t.

Is it okay to make this a bit?

It’s a great sign, the fish, having the associations to early christianity, the whole “be fishers of men” thing, plus the god message on the sign. then the whole jonah and the whale deal. totem house–a fish could certainly be seen as the totem spirit (symbolically) of ye ol’ good religion. so eye think it is awesome. eye say you go there for some grub and soon. Much better than the 7-11, eye’d be willin’ to bet.

Hi, Roy! You should be Hemingway for a year. Try it on. See what it does for you. A bit committed to is better than a snide aside easily forgotten. Just ask “Tony Clifton”.
