Best. Idea. Ever.
San Francisco is hoping to convert its dog dung into energy that may be able to power everything from an electricity-generating turbine to a home stove, according to Norcal Waste Systems Inc., which oversees garbage collection, recycling and disposal for San Francisco and several other Northern California cities.
San Francisco is believed to be the first U.S. city to explore the energy potential of dog feces. A pilot test program may begin within the next few months.
What I want to know though is how long until they use human feces? Like will we just be able to sit down and take a crap, and then have that power our laptop battery or something? That would be so sweet…

That’s my kind of thinking. And, man, if I could cat poop into money…
Cool, my dog could finally contribute some $$ to the household! SF has a big dogshit problem, at least it did when I lived there. Glad someone there is thinking creatively.
Actually, for a long time they have been using animal poop for fuel in some developing countries. In the rural parts of one country where one of my projects is doing a study, they fuel their cooking fires with animal poop. I don’t know about human poop, though.
Guys, read the Humanure Handbook! It’s free online:

I can’t believe how naive all of you are. Don’t you get it? Homeless deportation. Biofuels. Can’t you see? It’s made out of people! IT”S MADE OUT OF PEOPLE!

Check out Bucky Fuller’s Dymaxion House. The man invented so many things that could save our race from extinction… but you know how it goes.
