Don't do it. Myspace is bad news. The sooner people stop supporting it, the better.

I'd do it. The more eyes the better - no matter what. - why limit yourself to a certain medium - that seems well - lame. You can master that realm if you wanted to.

It's more aboutpictures and surveys and brainless crap - but I think your topic is fun and I have seen some good stuff pertaining to music et al anything pop culture- seems like a natural fit to me. If you look beyond the bubble gum effect.

Also that dude totally looks JUST LIKE YOU!! lol - - how's that gap commercial doin? Mwhahahahahaha

it is definately all the rage for high school kids. for the most part, i think that its mostly all social surface/superficial stuff going on... i've yet to come across a meaningful blog post on all of myspace (not that ive looked too hard, but still). ultiamtely, it definately cannot hurt (and i think it is actually a good thing) to stay in touch with the itnerests of the budding generrations. because every day we'regetting older and theyre getting younger.

PS -- after reading some random blade runner essay, i recently realized i was on track to become the racist grandparent i swore i'd never be... in regard to robots. i could picture my grandkids playing with robots, and me being the grumpy old man insisting that "they dont REALLY have feelings!" etc, ... which is along the lines of what the germans said about the jews, the southerners said about the slaves, etc. trying to keep the old mind ply-able, i am. i commend your myspace exploration.

Hey Tim,

Are you familiar with English comedian Dave Gorman? He made a whole show out of tracking down other Dave Gormans in the world.

Some info about it here. :)

Thomas:

and I don’t know it just creeps me out a bit with being ending up in someone else’s categories. What if you change your mind?

I'm not sure what you mean. What's the difference between posting on Yahoo 360 and posting on MySpace? What if I change my mind about what? I change my mind about stuff all the time! It's not just a theoretical possibility.

Just be aware that all the info you give to myspace is being databased for marketing purposes or worse. (Of course, that’s essentially true for the entire internet as a whole. But it’s especially true for myspace.)

Yeah, there's no escaping that on the internet as a whole. I actually spoke on the phone once with a company that does data mining from blogs, forums and other websites. I asked them what people were supposed to do who didn't want their user-created content to be used that way. He laughed and said something like: "Don't post it online."

Clearly, I'm well past that point now with my own work.

I've been avoiding it as almost all my poetry is on my yahoo 360 and myspace is on our local talk radio station (NJ101.5) every day as causing another problem in NJ with kids and access to kids' blogs and I don't know it just creeps me out a bit with being ending up in someone else's categories. What if you change your mind?

Besides how many fuckin IM buddies do you need? I got AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN, enough already.

"Do it. Do it." ~said in Ben Stiller's voice from Starsky and Hutch. No, but seriously. . .everyone is on myspace, including but not limited to animals and inanimate objects. I'm glad you're hopping on the bandwagon as well.
