Still experiencing a vast amount of technical difficulties with my site. I’m about to throw this computer out the window. Here is the latest:

1. I’ve managed to switch over both my hosting, domain registration and DNS info for the site. That much seems to be going swimmingly.

2. I have upgraded from WordPress version 1.5 to version 2.0.2. That went off without a hitch - sort of. It wasn’t the simplest transfer, and there were a couple small problems that had to be worked out, but for the most part I was pleased.

3. Here’s where my latest problem lies. I’m trying to import my old posts from Blogger into WordPress, using the import tool included in this version. Big mistake. Should be pretty simple, right? I mean they made a tool for it after all. Wrong! It keeps getting hung up when I try to hit import. It will import a month or two from my 2003 archives, and then stop. Or it will start over again and import like 5 of each of those and then stop.

And then it’s doing this other cool thing where even when the import script is not running, it keeps adding new items very slowly but surely. But it doesn’t seem to be doing it in any kind of predictable pattern that I can take advantage of and just let it run. It’s also not letting me abort the process. And I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s going on.

In the meantime, I’ve reverted to old database versions, reinstalled the new WP version and done a variety of other things in an effort to just get it to stop importing these old posts. Nothing’s working and it’s superbly frustrating - especially because of all the cool things I have planned for this site.

In any event, hang tight a little while longer. I swear this is gonna be resolved soon!
