Immigrants & The Coming National ID Card

This makes the most sense out of any explanation I’ve heard so far as to why the immigration issue is being pushed so hard right now as the “singlemost important problem facing America today”:

According to a U.S. intelligence source who has spoken to other officials in the intelligence community with direct knowledge of the plan, Bush administration and certain congressional legislators are quietly developing plans to roll out national ID cards for all Americans and illegal aliens living within U.S. borders. […] “All Congress needs is public willingness to submit to a national ID card—and according to what I am hearing, the government plans to use the illegal immigration issue as the launching pad to convince Americans that the card is the only answer, because fences and walls are ‘impractical’ and ‘expensive,’ “ said the source.

Speculation? Maybe. But from a practical standpoint of manufacturing consent around a divisive advancement in technology, privacy and data collection, then it makes a lot more sense. It certainly makes much more sense than the simpler and more common explanation of this all being about “racism.” What people forget is that racism is just one of many tools in a big bag of tricks.

While we’re on the subject of trick bags, also check out the handy satellite proof lead diplomatic pouch being offered for sale on that same website for $24.95 to help conscientious Americans shield their activities and whereabouts from the feds. Now who’s taking advantage of social issues to push forward alternate agendas again?

See, they’ve quietly conflated age-old rightist preoccupations of mark o’ the beast ID cards with the other age-old preoccupation of provincialists living within an empire: Xenomania. Kinda like the phobia, but more manic. And now they have them in their grip.

The age of the brainwashed enforcers comes perhaps. . .

I remember back in the 1930’s when Republican whipper-snappers were raising a stink about Social Security cards about being an intrusion and how the government was going too far. Well, social securtiy was a fine idea, but there will be a national revolt if the government tries to issue National ID cards- I fully agree with New Hampshire’s motto “live free or die”

Just how old are you Gnomely?

Haha. Well, there was no revolt during a stolen election. There have been no revolts during more than half a decade of total bullshit. I don’t see why that would change now!

How old is the universe? 22 years?

You might be right about people not revolting/ but all it takes is one spark to ignite a fire. And revolt might simply mean civil disobedience, or civil-liberatarians being swept into office. But ultimately, perhaps they need to reinstate the draft? That would get the young whipper-snappers off their rear and into gear.

There won’t be a revolution unless the higher ups want there to be one for some reason - mainly so they could openly instate more overt controls. In fact, that would be the best thing for them. Just like assassinating those in office would only push their goals through faster. It’s a dead end.

Here’s a quote to that effect from a recent article I linked to:

    http://www.propagandamatrix.com/counterfeit_foe.html

“Of course, we know that these radical students are not going to take over the government. What they are going to do is provide the excuse for the government to take over the people, by passing more and more repressive laws to ‘keep things under control’.”

I don’t know. What radilcals I say? We put our SS# on our drivers license here and I know in CA they take a fuckin fingerprint at the DMV so there is not much left to take.

I find it interesting the federales are starting a PR move on some of the conspiracy theories, like the pentagon now on 9/11 we have tape, and there has been some crap on CNN about refuting the thermite in the basement thing about the WTC on 9/11.

I mean to see something on CNN, like there is some movement there, some pressure from bloggers and what not but I don’t see it as enough to overturn the apple cart.

Everyone is tired stressed fed up with traffic, barely has a job etc. no one is ready to throw it all away that I can tell,

dubya is going to do whatever the fuck he wants with this immigration thing.

its interesting to note that there are usually parallel propositions to strip civil rights in the UK - the national ID cards are just one of them - http://www.no2id.net/IDSchemes/whyNot.php

there is also the “abolition of parliament” bill, called rather dryly the “Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill”, http://www.saveparliament.org.uk/ - which removes the need for edits, changes and appendations to bills to be passed by parliament, a little like the US administration saying that they can make changes to bills and append signing statements, to avoid congressional oversight.

[…] Sploid also has a little more coverage on it. Myself, I am hoping to be try and renew my driver’s license tomorrow, so I can be one of the first to be stamped with the Mark of the Beast, when my ID proudly proclaims “6/6/06″ as it’s issue date. And while we’re on the topic of ID’s and tracking, don’t forget the recent post here about how there may be plans to use the immigration issue to push forward a national ID card. […]
