Tracking Immigrants With RFID Chips

Just in time for 6/6/06, we have some “good” Mark of the Beast news:

Scott Silverman, Chairman of the Board of VeriChip Corporation, has proposed implanting the company’s RFID tracking tags in immigrant and guest workers. He made the statement on national television on May 16.

Silverman was being interviewed on “Fox & Friends.” Responding to the Bush administration’s call to know “who is in our country and why they are here,” he proposed using VeriChip RFID implants to register workers at the border, and then verify their identities in the workplace. He added, “We have talked to many people in Washington about using it….”

Sploid also has a little more coverage on it. Myself, I am hoping to be try and renew my driver’s license tomorrow, so I can be one of the first to be stamped with the Mark of the Beast, when my ID proudly proclaims “6/6/06″ as it’s issue date. And while we’re on the topic of ID’s and tracking, don’t forget the recent post here about how there may be plans to use the immigration issue to push forward a national ID card.

Anyway, from a marketing standpoint, it makes a certain sense that one of the first widespread uses of RFID chips in people (aside from the various existing novelty uses) will be used on a class of people who most consider “sub-human.” It will allow this company to show that their product is safe for mass use and that there are actually many advantages - even if you have white skin! Immigrants like them, so you will too, cause you don’t want immigrants to be part of a cool new tech trend before you, right!!!???
