Pop Occulture Magazine Opens!

It’s been on the backburner for over six months ago now, but I’m proud to announce that I finally got my ass in gear and completed the brand new Pop Occulture Magazine site. For right now, it’s only a web magazine, but if it’s as successful as I think it’s going to be, maybe we’ll be able to transition into print later on. In the meantime though, head on over and take a gander at my latest concerted effort to further diffuse consensus reality:

From the site’s Mission page:

Pop Occulture Magazine is an online magazine for anyone whose religion is media. When it comes to music, books and movies, we have an almost spiritual devotion to pop culture, to the creative people behind it, and to everybody whose lives are touched by it.

Through media reviews and more in-depth articles, we aim to use pop culture that everybody knows about as a jumping off point to explore places most people have never even dreamt of. This isn’t just another movie and music review site, though. Be prepared to travel down strange backroads, to unearth rare hidden jewels, and to drill down into the secret juicy core pulsating behind it all.

The Pop Occulture philosophy is totally open-ended and non-dogmatic: Jump inside of what you love. Transcend trends. Wear your passion like a swimsuit. Dive beneath the surface and never look back. And we’ll see you down there at the bottom of it all…

Pop Occulture Magazine is also now actively inviting people to submit articles and media reviews. Check out the submission page for guidelines on what we’re going to be looking for. I’m really excited to be able to draw on this huge community of brilliant people who are always posting comments here, emailing me thoughtful insights or writing some amazing stuff over on their own blogs. I think we’re gonna see a bunch of really high-quality content on this new site and can’t wait to get things rolling.

Also, for all you technical people, this new site runs in WordPress, so you’ll be able to do all the commenty and trackbacky goodness that you’re accustomed to. I would love it if people wanted to post links to this new site on their own blogs and pass along invitations to other people who might be interested in submitting articles. I will also be making some announcements on MySpace, as well as personally inviting a bunch of different people who I know have been wanting to write articles for this new site for some time. The more the merrier, I figure.

Oh, one other thing - this new site also features a very neat and sleek aggregator for sites in the Pop Occulture Network. If you’re tired of bouncing back and forth between all my sites seeing where I posted most recently, you’ll now be able to see what’s what all in one central location. Huzzah!

Wow! Cool concept! Another facinating spoke in the wheel whose hub is Seattle. With such a confluence of influencial efflugence, our city on 7 hills must be destined to rule the world! Now you just need to move to Fremont - “The Center of the Universe!” ;-)
    Wish you success!

Congratulations! Mandalation just got started on Wordpress, so I know what it’s like….

For everyone whose religion is media, huh? I think that’s true for a lot of people, but they don’t realize it’s true for themselves. Will the streets turn to rivers of blood when Paris Hilton cult members finally organize, and fight against the Ann Coulter cult?

I will keep looking into the Pop Occulture mag to find out…

I loves da media, but you gotta escape from da escapism sometimes, if you catch my drift. (Hilton vs. Coulter: Coulter two out of three falls, hands down, unless Hilton gets to unlease her kinkajou…))
