Dreaming of Baphomet
Somebody sent me an interesting dream a day or so ago, asking if I had any ideas of what it might mean. He said I could share it here in the hopes that other people might have some useful interpretations or information to add to it:
I had a dream of being in attendence at a circle with Baphomet. The entire dream sequence was related to spaceships and just about every other late night occult TV fad subject you could imagine. I found this odd since I hadn’t been in contact with any occult material for days. While I do study the tarot almost daily (even while I’m hiking), nothing influenced this.
Well, in the later part of the dream, I was kinda researching the Lovecraftian styled UFO’s that were landing on my mom’s farm. At one point, I found myself going in a basement where Baphomet had been waiting for me. I was neither scared by his presence, nor did I think anything was out of whack. (I was more concerned about the UFO’s flying overhead and a crazy Vietname veteran of a neighbor who kept pointing them out “Didn’t see one yet - look over there son!”)
Baphomet had prepared some kinda of ‘juice’ for us to consume. Who knows what - maybe Terence McKenna might have a clue. What was odd to me was how real he appeared, he beckoned me to juice up and soon, I realized I was in a dark room, surrounded by others - who were all gibbering ( Ole’ H. P. L[ovecraft] would have loved this one), as Baphomet turned to dive in first, his wings became ‘bug like’ and he had some lady on his back. Needless to say, she wasn’t too happy being tied there. The dream ended, I woke up and said ‘Holy shit.’
Not being one who is scared of dreams, I went right back to bed. The dream repeated itself.
Couple links to Baphomet info…
This is one of those over-the-top type of dreams that’s hard to derive any specific psychological meaning from, I think. The interpretations that make the most sense to me then are that it’s either (1) archetypal or (2) an actual encounter with a real entity, or maybe both. Maybe there is no real difference between the two.
If you want to look at it that way, we can open up another interpretation. When you meet a new person, what does that meeting “mean”? Chances are, the meeting itself doesn’t mean as much as does the interactions you have and the relationship you end up having with that person. I would imagine that we could approach dreams from a similar perspective - rather than try to interpret them, figure out ways we can build meaningful relationships with them.
I could be way off though. Maybe there’s a meaning to this dream that is readily apparent. What do you think? Anybody here an expert on Baphomet and similar topics?

Looks like Eliphas Levi considered Baphomet a symbol of the absolute. And suposedly the origin of the word meant baptism or initiation, which makes sort of a gnostic word.
It seems obvious the basement represents the subconcious, and in Jungian pyschology spaceships represent a symbol of transcendance beyond the self. SO it is interesting to be in a basement stuck inside the subconcious with a symbol of the absolute while one studies UFO’s beyond the surface. The liquid that is crazy! who knows? something on the lines of drinking the blood of Christ? And the whole insect wing thing with the woman on the back, that seems incomprehensible.
But, I think all the dream means is suggesting a major spiritual journey or initiation is underway for the particular person and maybe the need to intergrate his/her desire for the feminine with his/her desire for the absolute divine.

…your dream as a whole, the feeling i get from it,as well as certain details, put me in mind of two thingds that i have read……first off,it reminds me of the book, ‘THE SIRIUS MYSTERY’………..the insect wings, and the “juice” remind me of a chapter in the book,’THE INVISIBLE LANDSCAPE’ by Terrence McKenna……..i think( if you haven’t already) that you would find them interesting………

” it’s either (1) archetypal or (2) an actual encounter with a real entity, or maybe both. Maybe there is no real difference between the two.”
Why do you continually dance around this conclusion? Can’t you just commit yourself to the hypothesis that there is no difference? After all these years of research and analysis, what exactly is it that keeps you from taking this final step?

Jason had a very intense baphomet dream after an initiation; which apparently is quite common. Given that baphomet’s function is as hierophant, it’s really not too surprising that he’d turn up in dreams.

It’s quite interesting. I had a UFO dream 2 nights ago with a non human type person as a host. It was not your stereotipically dream of uuu i’m being abducted, help. I was driving along the freeway when lights started showing up in the sky. Like choppers front lights, but one by one started appearing and pointing them at different cars. People started driving like crazy trying to loose the lights being pointed at them. One of them was pointed at me, then all of a sudden I’m not in my car but in a hallway. Very much like the architect’s room in the matrix full of tv’s. I’m with a couple of people and watching other people dreaming in the tv’s and being in panic. The host told us we were picked up because we were thinking differently, and that’s why people dissapeare most of the time, when they start thinking differently (whatever the hell that means). The host did not look like an alien, but did not look human, and sort of look like an animal, but not quite (if that makes any sense at all). Then I remember being in the tv and they telling me just sleep and dream. Only that I was forcing myself to stay lucid in that dream (inside the dream) and I was able to control the things that got everyone else paranoid. After that I woke up.
Im not saying the host on mine was baphomet, but, hey…who knows, right?

Interesting…
I have been having incredibly vivid dreams where I go down into a basement into an “ordeal.”
It would seem that the Baphomet current is on a surge wave…
I’d just be open to the energy and see what manifests.
Enjoy

Ha ha. Who says I haven’t committed myself to just that? There is a possibility that I highlight this distinction on behalf of those who haven’t made that leap just yet, isn’t there?
