NSA Running Out of Power
From the Baltimore Sun:
Agency officials anticipated the problem nearly a decade ago as they looked ahead at the technology needs of the agency, sources said, but it was never made a priority, and now the agency’s ability to keep its operations going is threatened. The NSA is already unable to install some costly and sophisticated new equipment, including two new supercomputers, for fear of blowing out the electrical infrastructure, they said.
The demand for electricity to operate its expanding intelligence systems has left the high-tech eavesdropping agency on the verge of exceeding its power supply, the lifeblood of its sprawling 350-acre Fort Meade headquarters, according to current and former intelligence officials.
Maybe this is part of the real reason for the new cultural push towards alternative energy sources?

I wonder how many windows they have on a 350-acre Fort?

I grew up in Columbia MD, just a few minutes down the road from Fort Meade, in which one of the main highways drives right by NSA. There is a small stretch where you pass a few of the buildings… and ever since childhood they’ve fueled tons “strange-looking building” dreams. Was even freakier once I learned what goes on there (probably after seeing True Lies).

One time a friend and I drove down the NSA exit and I don’t know what we thought we were gonna do once we got there but there were like three guys with M-16s at the gate and we just rolled up and were like, “Yeah we took a wrong turn…” And they whole-heartedly agreed

The NSA is so funny. My parents were Military Intelligence people, and have many friends who work in that kind of place. For a conspiricy nut like me, it’s *really* scary to find out how normal they are. The people who work inside the black iron prison are prisoners too, despite what they want you to belive. (or so we think) Anyway, whenever i bring up conspiricys with them, they’re responce is always that the government couldn’t keep anything worth keeping quiet quiet, espesially not over time. Kind of a cop-out, I know, but also funny, in a anti-climactic kind of way.
