Law Enforcement Against Prohibition
Really good video (13:36 minutes) about a group called LEAP, which is made up of current and former law enforcement officials intelligently discussing the colossal failures and damage caused by the war on drugs.
It’s nice to see cops who actually seem intelligent and together about what’s going on in this country for once. Although, at the same time, maybe the idea that they are operating under is a bit naive: that we could just legalize drugs and that would just work. I would be curious to see what they think about the involvement of elements of the United States government in the world narcotics trade, about the CIA being responsible for introducing crack cocaine into South Central LA in the 1980’s, or about Afghanistan being invaded to maintain the international heroin trade… The story may be much bigger than these guys are saying, or maybe they know that and realize they need to choose their battles. Either way, excellent video. Well worth your time!

Actually you are correct. I recently worked on a documentary (I’m a camera man) about the mysterious murders in and around Juarez, Mexico. A few of these fellows were present for interview (who shall remain unnamed) and from what I perceive to be truth, that’s exactly what they were talking about; as well as child trafficking. We must have been onto something, because Lion’s Gate loved it, bought it and now it is shelved somewhere near the Ark of the Covenent

I’m glad some law enforcement people are standing up for this now, because when people like the ones who browse this site (encluding me) say they want to legalize drugs, people don’t take to kindly to it. ‘Course, they won’t for a while now, but ten years down the line… who knows?
Of course, then we’ll have Substance D to worry about…
