“I’m being swallowed by a boa-constrictor, And I don’t like it one little bit.” - Shel Silverstein
Last week I fasted for almost three days, and then went onto a temporary raw foods diet in an effort to bring more focus, discipline and intentionality into my life. This podcast explores my experiences and thoughts during that period of time, as well as ties in some other subjects which I have been working on lately - particularly in terms of media fasting, etc.

On your #3 - Predators/Archons, and another plug for Lessing’s sf books…
quote from Wikipedia
“The planet Shikasta is a view of Earth, as seen from another civilization or planet named Canopus in Argos, who once colonized it and introduced civilization.
The civilization on Shikasta was peaceful and life energy (resembling Odic force, Mana, Qi, empathy and/or mystic earth radiation) was connecting the minds of the inhabitants of Shikasta to Canopus in Argos. It is clear that this energy is a truly physical phenomenon, transmitted by means of stone formations (compare Ley lines).
However, evil forces, in the form of a civilization named Shammat, only known for tapping and disrupting life energy flows, constantly intervene with the energy flow.”
And, she’s retelling Genesis in the 1st book.
wow! Towards the end you say something like, “meditate because it gives the fast a ‘ritual container’”. About a year and a half ago I met two people who work for the
School of Lost Borders, who lead fasts in the desert. The school is based here in Big Pine, CA where I live and has been operating for 30 years. I’ve become friends with Emerald North who works for the school - she’s the one who turned me onto Lessing. (I keep plugging her because she’s a she and interesting.) Anyway, I’m finally going to do a fast with the school next summer. They last about 10 days with 3 days prep, 4 days fasting alone (water and a tarp for shelter) then 3 days talking about the experience as a group. Have put it off because, hmmm…the ritual container of these fasts implies that we intend and expect change and the really hard part comes when the ritual is over. The fast itself is like a death - physically and psychologically.
And your extension of Narby resonates with me too. Chardin was thinking about much more than the internet (group mind), which many folks are, incorrectly I think, crediting him with predicting. That an individual is actually a group, which is a part of other groups, etc, is more on target.
Absolutely! On the third night when I couldn’t take it any more, it was almost like I “died.” And it’s hard to explain the chain of coincidences that go along with this, but three days later it literally felt like my “birthday.” And the night that I “died”, I realized later was the same night I went to a concert at a club called “the Fenix” (ie, phoenix) and saw a band called “Rise Against” - which oddly enough breaks down to “Rise Again” and “St.” Anyway just a little teaser of the weirdness that accompanied last week for me…
One Trackback
[...] I began exploring this line of thought during my fasting last week. Giving up things which I want and need to survive (food), enabled me to begin letting go of the things which I really didn’t need or want in order to survive. During this period, I was also reading the Bible regularly, and it just so happens that the direction I was going was rewarded within that books pages as well. In Psalm 51, there is a passage which particularly resonated with me. Like the other Psalms, this one is a direct supplication to God, asking for mercy, forgiveness, protection, etc: 16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
