Found this via a friend. Pretty short and interesting video by a famous UK magician/hypnotist named Derren Brown where he supposedly demonstrates the effects of subliminal suggestion on two ad men.

If you take this at face value - which I’m not totally sure whether or not I do - it could be a fairly useful and simple way of understanding what Philip K. Dick is referring to when he talks about how, “The symbols of the divine show up in our world initially at the trash stratum.” And elsewhere he talks about receiving “disinhibiting stimulus” which enables him essentially to begin to read those symbols plainly. Perhaps we could liken this to Brown giving these two men the task of coming up with a poster, described herein. Except what Dick is describing is the ability to literally see the connecting thread of the various objects “out on the street” which God - or in our case Derren Brown - has placed there to influence us subtly.
