All media is mind control.
All communication is oppression.
To have a mind is to be controlled.
To have a self is to be oppressed.
The only question is whether or not you can find a way to enjoy it. Having a mind, that is. Having a self. Being controlled. Being oppressed. These things can be very fun. They can also be a tremendous pain in the ass. People talk a lot about “unconditional love” but hardly anyone talks about “unconditional living” (a cornerstone of Exceptionology). Once upon a time a man told a woman that he loved her unconditionally – but only if she loved him unconditionally in return.
Goddamn that high lonesome sound. Coming out of the hills. Coming up from the flood plains.
When you say something to someone – anything – you are trying to make them isomorphic to you, trying to bend them out of shape. Contortion can be fun if you’re able to stay limber. You can get into all kinds of interesting positions that way. You may find sex more enjoyable in some of these positions. Our purpose may simply be this: to shape-shift without losing sight of (that is, enjoyment of) ourselves.

Of course the “Self” as we know it is a trick. A media event. A viral marketing scheme wrought by culture onto the mammalian nervous system. I saw a dog wearing a raincoat the other day. The owner crossed the street anxiously ahead of us as we giggled at the cultural projections he’s trying to imprint upon his dog’s nervous system. The dog doesn’t care, but he did. You could see in his eyes that he knew what he did was wrong but that he enjoyed it. Enjoyed oppressing the dog with his faulty communication, projecting his own faulty imprints onto external forms. You can never find your “self.” All you will find is a triangle of uncertainty, an alliance of lions.

Because it works like this. Are you ready? Get out your yellow highlighter marker and get ready to highlight on your screen the following lines: what we call the self is nothing more than a set of reference points from which we triangulate a hypothesized central core, a common thread. Let me start over. I created my past in order to explain to you my future and what I am doing right now. Let me re-start re-over. Repermanent. What we call the past is a sequence of reference points which we use to explain what we are experiencing right now. (Let’s make a covenant! Let’s hold each other tight! Let’s revise history here tonight!)
It’s useless to think of whether or not the past did or didn’t happen. Because in regards to the past, it’s not a matter of “happening” but of having been created. Think of it like this: you’re writing a novel. Some parts of the book you’ve already written. But they don’t necessarily happen in the “past” per se. Their sequential order may be rearranged later on. The point is simply that you have already written them. They act as reference points. You use them to triangulate your current location within the narrative. Your current location is both spatial and temporal. No real difference. Your current location within the narrative is what we call the “present.”

The thing about the present is that it’s really nothing more than the part of the story which you’re currently working on. Any part of the story you’re working on becomes the present. Say you decide to go back and revise something you’ve already written (colloquially known as the “past”) – that now becomes the present. Except that version of the present moment has much higher triangulated reference points than other versions of the present such as the actual present and the future – the part of the novel you haven’t even yet attempted to write. All novels are written in a single instant, a single tense. The present.

The aide said that guys like me were “in what we call the reality-based community,” which he defined as people who “believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.” … “That’s not the way the world really works anymore,” he continued. “We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”
What they mean here is that they are creating reference points and they know that this is all they are doing. Whether they made it happen or let it happen, they thoroughly exploited 9/11 as a massive global reference point – in fact *the* reference point around which the world will be made into a New Order. That’s not to say that 9/11 didn’t happen. That’s to say that we exist awash in a sea of infinite possibilities as spiritual beings. Because we seem to find it interesting to do so, we limit ourselves to a temporarily fixed reference point. We call it the body, although it’s not really fixed at all. It’s just a base location around which we can triangulate other reference points. And no it’s not a superpower at all and it has nothing to do with “future-seeing”…
Watch the video below in the beginning to see how they overtly use media symbology to create triangulated reference points. Then they delve into a series of well-known celebrities (who are also highly recognizable and emotionally-charged anchor points), along with some dramatic footage of people living under conditions which seem entirely “other” and then through the sound frequency of the music and the light frequency of the imagery, combined with these reference points, they encode an extremely specific emotional program into your AI loading dock:
Remember that weird blue box in the movie Mulholland Drive? What do you think that blue box is here that they keep passing off like a baton from one person to another? It is the viro-cultural reference point being translated through a sequence of frequencies (sequencies).
It’s all recorded. There is no band. The reference points play themselves out when they are done properly. They are programs. We could probably throw the word “sigils” in here somewhere as well, but I’d really rather not head in that direction because I think chaos magick is a tired and stupid paradigm for the most part. I prefer the terms covenant and consenunit and gossamer seedpetal thinware smarticules. Much more theatrical and futuristic-sounding.

The same thing happens with all media events. Out of the cloud of infinite possibilities – of infinite possible meanings and combinations of people, places and events – a small subset is selected to become a reference point. People become glued to this reference point (power of witness), because something about our consciousness seeks out reference points to which we can not only anchor ourselves individually, but which we can use to act as collective anchor points as well in order to share experiences with one another. This is probably the true source of our mind’s incessant need to create anchor points: that we want to be able to share common experiences with one another. We call it “love” but it is merely the recognition that we have become separate and we don’t like that. This is why love is so tragic and sad. Love hurts. Ooooh, love hurts.
Love is a rose
but you better not pick it
It only grows when it’s on the vine.
A handful of thorns and
you’ll know you’ve missed it
You lose your love
when you say the word “mine”.

Selflessness has nothing to do with giving up yourself but instead with recognizing you don’t have one to begin with and becoming okay with that. You lose anything you don’t give away in toto.
I don’t know what they mean about love not always being on time. But damn, Toto sure made some great videos. And that vest – these guys had passion. “For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.”
See how I snuck that in there on you? A double whammy of juxtaposed triangulated reference points? The band Toto. A Bible quote. Your AI, like a good little puppy, is going to try and mash those together to find the common thread. Likely it will tire itself and drop the remainder of the sequential-equation (sequation) into the vaster authentic mind. It’s only unconscious when you’re ignoring it and not letting it be a part of your life. The joke is of course on you though as it has ultimate control over the kit and kaboodle. If you suddenly erased all of history, you would have no national borders, no long-running animosities or rivalries. History is a tool to oppress (to press, shape, mold) the present (which is completely plastic).

Ambient fear is rather like ambient music or ambient lighting, we do not even notice it much but it influences how we feel and this influences our behaviour. It is possible to watch an innocent scene in the cinema and it will seem menacing if menacing music is played in the background.
Ambient fear is rather like a menacing soundtrack to our lives.
Low grade ambient fear is apparently what they call it. Supposed to be a step or several below panic attacks. Existential angst, others might call it. The recognition that something is not right, that things are out of order. Gnosticism, the essential human brand-narrative. The Ark of the Covenant was a reified reference point God (himself a reference point) gave to the Jews (a consenunit) in order to give them a sense of unity (consensciousness).

A panic attack is a period of intense, often temporarily disabling, sense of extreme fear or psychological distress, typically of abrupt onset. Though it is often a purely terrifying feeling to the sufferer, panic attacks are actually an evolutionary body response often known as the fight-or-flight response occurring out of context. Symptoms may include trembling, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, chest pain (or chest tightness), sweating, nausea, dizziness (or slight vertigo), hyperventilation, paresthesias (tingling sensations), and sensations of choking or smothering. During a panic attack, the body typically releases large amounts of adrenaline into the bloodstream. Many first time sufferers of a panic attack believe they are dying or going insane.
And they are, except it’s not “them” that is dying or going insane: it is their AI which feels threatened by its opposite: death. The AI could be considered a freak-out machine. But it is only following orders. It is like a dog. It’s only desire is to please and to play. There is no sense getting mad at it or trying to whack it with your hat or a newspaper. It operates according to a very simple and extraordinarily efficient principle: find the pattern and try to catch the ball based upon where it should be at any given moment within the pattern. Pattern recognition. Machine learning. Messages that pass below the liminal edge.

James Vicary, a market researcher, falsely claimed in 1957 that quickly flashing messages on a movie screen had influenced people to purchase more food and drink. Vicary coined the term subliminal advertising and formed the Subliminal Projection Company based on a six-week test in which he flashed the slogans “Drink Coca-Cola” and “Eat popcorn” during a movie for 1/3000 of a second at five-second intervals. Vicary claimed that during the test, sales of popcorn and Coke in the New Jersey theater where the test was conducted increased 57.5 percent and 18.1 percent respectively.
[The New Age movement was created in a research institute in order to re-write the past by glossing over the actual real revolutionary content of what happened with the Hippies and Yippies and replace it with lifestyle marketing mumbo-jumbo which could be more easily sold and managed culturally. Just watch what happens to Jerry Rubin after Esalen re-education, or any of the clips of est graduates.]

Why would a bank want me to think that it and I are in love/have formed a covenant consenunit?
Most reference points are created without your being aware of them. If you want to find out some of your own reference points around which you have constructed an image of reality, follow these simple steps: write down your top five favorite movies in the comments to this post. Write down your top five favorite books. Five favorite musicians. Now wait for someone else to do the same thing. Now observe your emotional reaction as you read through other peoples’ lists. Where items match your own, you will feel a sense of unspoken kinship. Where items do not match your own, you may consider the other person has “bad taste.” You will be able to judge the parity rating between your and that person’s consensciousness accordingly. When you begin to realize that these individual and shared reference points are entirely arbitrary, you will be starting out on your way.

Better, in my opinion, to create your own reference points than to glom onto everyone else’s (I am *not* talking about culture jamming which is also bullshit). Although perhaps that is a rather totalitarian vision of communication: oppress others before they can oppress you. But it’s not about Oppression. That’s just a word I chose from our cultural reference point heritage to make you feel a certain way, to make you rebel inside a little. It’s about Art. That’s a much sexier and nobler term, right? But it’s not even about that in the end. It’s about Friendship.
Liberty, Fraternity, Equality.
Beauty, Truth, Love.
The Glorious Ideals of Our Revolution.
The open and bountiful sharing of all that you are: nothing. And that we all are: nothing. And by simple virtue of that being all we have, that is enough. That is beautiful. Share it. Enjoy it. Drink Coke. Don’t follow leaders. Watch the parkin’ meters. You don’t need a weather man to know which way the wind blows. You can simply go outside for yourself and see and feel it in your hair. I always loved your hair.

Amazing spam I got within a minute of re-opening a lapsed Hotmail account:

Oh yeah that guy is awesome.
Very interesting from that page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Chronology_(Fomenko)
so there is no difference between pretending to go to Paris and going to Paris?
If you go to Paris or to some place you have never been before that has a different culture…it will now doubt inform you about the world in some way.
So then you will evaluate other cultures, people, places, based partly on your experiences of Paris.
If you just pretend to go to Paris, you only draw from other experiences you have already had and morph it into a composit of what you think Paris would be like.
Our perceptions are based mostly on memory but there is always the chance for unique experience.
I can look out the window as I drive in my car and imagine feeling the textures of everything I pass and imagine from memory what everything would feel like. But that’s because I touched and experienced a bunch of stuff and remembered it.
About the self being an illusion and so forth….People with a really strong sense of self can incorporate other people into themselves. It’s through strength of will.
So I am always suspicious of people really harping on “all is one” type stuff.
Not saying you have ulterior motives or anything, but negating other people is bad news.
I am half convinced Jesus is an evil entity that just wants to swallow people like am amoeba and turn them into Jesus.
Who said that?
This happens whether or not you actually go to Paris.
No, our perceptions are based mostly on extrapolation and pattern recognition.
No, it’s because you’re imagining it. And imagination is a facet of experience
http://www.timboucher.com/journal/2006.../podcast-02-ah-to-be-a-caveman-again/
I’m not sure what you mean by that.
Of course you are, the AI fears death above all else.
Who’s negating anyone? Bad news is often followed by good news. And then by bad news, and then by good news.
Yes. That’s what I meant about communication being an attempt to make people isomorphic to you – which is what both of us are doing here as well. We are trying to make the other person like us through our words and concepts so that we can forge a covenant-based consensciousness.
I think you’re saying the same thing I am. I don’t think you think that though because of the difference in our language cloud patterns
http://www.timboucher.com/journal/2007/01/22/podcast-the-cloud-of-words/
Oh, and I’m not saying “All is one.” Rather, you are trying to wire what I am saying onto existing language/conceptual structures which you already possess
You are saying self is an illusion caused by triangulating reference points.
So let’s just say you are bullshitting me. Not saying you are, but for the sake of argument, let’s just say you don’t really believe that. You are a psychopth cult leader and you just want to pray on me. You have serious boundary issues. You basically want to consume me and integrate me into yourself.
So you ply me with all this mumbo jumbo, that our individuality is just an illusion, we are really connected, what I think of as me is just a “shell” etc. then I buy this stuff and feel kind of lost and fluid.
I think I would then be pretty good prey to be manipulated in any way you wish.
Meanwhile you still kep your strong sense of self and strong sense of identity and make me part of you. All that is mine is yours etc. My will, everything.
If all this stuff is just pure truth why is it so easy for psychpths to co-opt it?
Strength of will comes out of the power chakra. Powerful people can bend others to their will. That’s what I mean.
Like Saddam. Intitially, in the trial, he still exuded power and intimidated the hell out of people like the judge. The judge couldn’t look him in the eye.
In real life powerful people intimidate the fuck out of others. But working stiffs often have fantasies that they can kick the big CEO’s ass if it came down to it.
But really when they meet him face to face they feel small and weak. Its like their will is this organizing principle that sucks everyone into line.
BTW,
I don’t think I am saying the same thing you are or that I want you to think just like me.
this reminded me of a Ran Prieur quote i like from another of your posts:
“Almost the entire “new age†movement is just an attempt to make money from the shift back to seeing mind as the root of matter, but once the shift is done, they can’t make money, so they draw it out and put lots of clutter around it. I want to get it done!”
i want to get it done too, and i want to have fun getting it done.
I also like that Platonic realism “cultivates the understanding so that one can pass through that most brilliant light of Being to the Good or the One itself without sacrificing the mind to go beyond the mind.”
cheers
It could be that my AI mind is just taking over and preventing my from gaining enlightenment…But whenever I get into non dualism and stuff like that…I just hate the way it feels. I got pissed off and and yelled at “to whom it may concern” while reading “A course in Miracles” then I sensed an entity giving me a snarky answer back.
I get paranoid about giving up my identity, thinking its all an illusion…and the reubttals of “its not like a drop of water being swallowed by the sea, its like the drop of water swallowing the sea” etc.
So if you aren’t saying that and there is this linguistic glitch or whatever…If its about fun, its more fun for me to delude myself into thinking I exist and have a unique identity than to think I am just a construct.
…but I also think there is a strong possibility I am unique and in some sense autonomous and that there exists a danger of having my soul co-opted and consumed by hostile entities.
Feel free to tell me if I am making a nuisance of myself and commenting too much on your blog.
But I think it could be like this: People have authentic separate existences. Everyone is a unique creation. The self isn’t just a contstuct. Everyone is not really all the same person separated by illusion. We really are separate and unique. Its not an illusion.
There is God, the creator, source, what have you, and there really is this hostile entity “Satan†if you will. There is a real authentic universe and there is a counterfeit universe created by Satan.
The goal of Satan is to get people to tie their identities into these artificial, external reference points. Your favorite band, your favorite style of dress, your town, your favorite celebrity or whatever. Satan controls most of this stuff.
Then at any time, Satan can say “See all these stuff is all bullshit†These reference points are all arbitrary. All is one. Your separateness is just an illusionâ€
Then he eats you. He eats your soul.
There is body, soul spirit.
The spirit comes from the source, which is God, the soul is some kind of bi-product or something. Satan eats souls. He’s cut off from the source so he has to eat other peoples bi products from the source. He can’t produce his own.
I think the truth and the lie are a lot alike.
Well Theo, seems you’ve cornered the market on all the good ideas…
And out come the wolves, the Satanists will flood the comments here just like RI
bring it!
Avert your eyes, children – He may take on other forms.

Difficult post.
I say the reference points do indeed have only a half-reality on closer inspection – but on occasion they can point the way to real stuff in between.
Most of the reference points now serve only to hide the good stuff.
Some force within us compels us to make reference points. And then they take a half-life of their own and fear us, for we have the power to dismiss them. And they hide their true nature.
This is a very poor state of affairs. We must make peace with our referents.
I have a name for it all, in my own head. But that in itself is a referent… and a big bad ugly-ass mo-fo it must be, to orchestrate all that ill feeling and hide in the shadows.
A true riddle:
I learnt a long time ago that ivory towers are for looking from, not at. One of my symbols is a blue lion rampant. I met a man named Gwyn Prins who made me kneel in fealty and who tattooed it on my forehead invisibly, except that I can see it in the mirror. The last time I saw Gwyn Prins he was on the BBC news, commenting on the immediate aftermath of the Twin Towers disaster.

I simply found this post extroidinarily funny and intoxicatingly sober.
I think it took me about an hour to get through it all.
Time well spent from my palantir.
“i was ready to tell
the story of my life
but the ripple of tears
and the agony of my heart
wouldn’t let me
i began to stutter
saying a word here and there
and all along i felt
as tender as a crystal
ready to be shattered
in this stormy sea
we call life
all the big ships
come apart
board by board
how can i survive
riding a lonely
little boat
with no oars
and no arms
my boat did finally break
by the waves
and i broke free
as i tied myself
to a single board
though the panic is gone
i am now offended
why should i be so helpless
rising with one wave
and falling with the next
i don’t know
if i am
nonexistence
while i exist
but i know for sure
when i am
i am not
but
when i am not
then i am
now how can i be
a skeptic
about the
resurrection and
coming to life again
since in this world
i have many times
like my own imagination
died and
been born again
that is why
after a long agonizing life
as a hunter
i finally let go and got
hunted down and became free ”

Ted, those are all good questions. I really do get where you’re coming from. Go with what you’re doing! Just do it more more more! Raise the stakes. Up the ante.
Amazing!
my friend the baptist gets on me when i deconstruct consciousness like that. he says that i don`t know what it is that i know and that it`s really the work of demons.
then of course he riffs on about scientology and jim jones and krishnas……meanwhile it was him that got eaten alive at an est retreat in 1979 and began having psychic conversations with his business partner……
oh yeah and the good acid from the sixties…….
i am posting more about media recently too.

In the Catholic and post-Catholic mystical christian literature, sometimes this kind of analysis is performed, although it mainly leans towards emotional poetic stuff*, which is also rejected by modern Americhristians. But in the Orthodox Christian tradition, despite having the same aims and symbolism as the Catholic side, all fringe phenomena are regarded as the devil’s work (for instance in the Philokalia) as they are distractions from the One Reality named God. In introspection, as we examine our minds working, we find a powerful fascination with these workings. But it is strange, as soon as we try to push a little and see how ‘it’ works, it captivates us and in a minute we are waking up from another daydream.
I mean, the primary mode of life for Christians should be love, however we think we can interpret that, so depending on your perspective, you could say that insofar as attempts to explore the mind distract from our primary goal to love one another and love the God which even now is our true existence and life, they are harmful. But criticisms of what we could loosely call mystical investigation that are simply based in fear or reflexive rejection are worse than a distraction as they keep us from even seeing that there might be a problem with how our minds work, how we live our lives. Each of us can only judge which side we come down on for ourselves.
*it makes sense that this allegorical style would predominate in Christianity over the more logical expositions in other traditions; Yeshuah himself spoke in parables, almost never in logical arguments, appealing to the hearts of people instead of their intellects. Sufism has a great balance, you have the ecstatic style like Rumi, and the expository style like Ibn Arabi and they complement each other completely.
Tim,
I have been influenced quite a bit in this line of thought by Michael Topper. I would be surprised if you hadn’t heard of him. I was introduced to his writing through the website of this weird “cult leader” type woman. I can’t think of her name right now, but you have probably heard of her as well. She writes about “organic portals” a lot. Don’t let that put you off towards Topper’s writing. She just glomed onto it. They aren’t connected.
He talks about “bidding” how hostile entities bend you to their will. I have experienced that. I am a really tasty dish, apparently, in the spirit world. Lot’s of nutritional value. Seriously. Some people are more nutritious to soul eaters, than others.
So anyway, I’ve had this ongoing battle. Topper helped me put it into context.
The pyramid structure is the thing in a nutshell. Its a pyramid of soul energy with all the soul energy being sucked to the top. The Modus operandi is deception. Deception is the active end of this two sided transaction, the passive side being “belief.” If you can get people to believe a lie you can eat their soul. Because you give your being to the lie. You devote energy to it.
Think of a moonie, slaving away 18 hours a day selling flowers. Their soul energy is being sapped. The moonies in more intellectual endeavors have their souls sapped too. All their intellect is dedicated to Rev. Moon. This is just one example.
All these institutions are visible representations of what goes on in the spiritual realm. Banks, Corporations, governments. Its all the pyramid.
At the top of the pyramid is the desolate one. He wants to suck all of creation into itself like a black hole.
His idea of God is pretty in depth. You should check it out. I am sure you can google all his writings that’s what I did. I’ll look for links.
Basically though Topper just gave some good explanations for phenomena I have been dealing with for 20 years.
Here is a good archive : Michael Topper
I especially recomend this one:
Stalking
If you have already read his stuff, maybe what would be more interesting to you is how I relate it to my experience.
To me, Jesus is a hostile entity. I don’t know if there is a “real” Jesus, and I was following a counterfiet one. If there is a “true” Christianity and I was following a corrupt version. I don’t know. All I know, is that for me, being a Christian was spiritually oppressive to me. I was enslaved to it. Before I became “born again” I was into new agey type stuff. I had a “spirit guide” that led me to becoming a born again Christian. Through pretty much the same modus operandi described in the article on stalking, my will was broken and I gave in. It took a lot.
A Couple years a go I broke free. And Now whenever I am tempted to go back to some kind of quasi-Christian spirituality, like gnosticism, ACIM, liberal Chirstianity, I get this really creepy feeling. This really creepy energy is associated with this for me, now.
Also anything related to follwing guidence from spirits through “intuition.” Creeps me out.
You might be interested in the Kabbalah, then, it is eminently rational:
http://kabbalah.info/

Topper’s idea of God appeals to me. God is this intelligent void. We have a lot of independance and free choice. Objective knowledge exists.
Well anyway, here is an expo on the woman, that compiled a lot of Topper’s stuff online and, it basically sums up my impression of her cult leader status. Laura Knight Jadczyc
So really, nothing is safe from being twisted and co-opted.
The main twist though, is this message of “all is one, so surrender to the borg”
That is “A course In Miracles” in a nutshell, imo. If I ever see the guy who wrote “The dissapearance of the Universe” I seriously might be tempted to give him a hard right cross to the face.
Nothing is safe, of course, except for us. Meaning can be twisted. Words can be twisted. But that doesn’t mean we can or need to be broken because of it.
Theodore–thanks for the Michael Topper clue in; sounds like an intriguing view of things.
Tim–digging around deoxy from the link to that Alan Watts essay you incorporated a few posts back (on the Value of Psychotic Experience), came across this piece. Don’t know if you’ve read it, but it seems to speak to one of the things you’ve been getting at re: the self:
http://deoxy.org/egofalse.htm
Peace.
In science, there’s a thing called an ‘artefact’. If I say, ‘I’m looking at an artefact’, I mean that what I’m looking at is bullshit, of no relation to the truth, and most probably due entirely to the way I’m looking.
Seems the manufacture of artefacts, and their passing off as the real thing, is the chief business of a big slice of the world right now.
I’m sure this wasn’t always the case. And I wonder why it seems like the case now, and it didn’t then.
I haven’t the experiences with ‘evil’ that Ted has had but from a childhood of vigorous church hopping I’ve noticed that every church I’ve been involved with has ‘infiltrators’. They are either lone gunman type crazies or leaders in the church. They are geniuses at timing. They see just where to position themselves to block spiritual/physical progress while in the guise of the most helpful, religiously motivated, kind hearted people you ever want to meet.
They are completely aware of their purposes as opposed to kind people acting unconsciously. Small churches are preyed upon by the lone wolf types and larger denominations intentionally send out these types to prey on the competition. I think they do this to keep these people busy as much as out of malice. These people appoint themselves a mission and if you fail to acknowledge their special mission in life then you would be the enemy.
I don’t know why I’ve always noticed these people and been in positions to verify that they were doing the things they do intentionally but I hope it helps. It can break your spirit if you’re not careful. That seems to be the goal of most of these types of people, but not all.
kind people acting unconsciously…………….wow, what a concept. i see that in loose congregations at times. kids soccer games, starbucks occasionally, hiking in popular areas…….people just acting without agendas and enjoying themselves. rock concerts, comedy clubs. fairly often in my stop smoking or weightloss seminars there is a communion of sorts where people have forgotten thier surroundings briefly and just become “in the moment” that`s why i like the q an a sessions at the end of the formal process in the seminar best.
i think i we get more actual work done there anyway.
hey, maybe if churches started doing that………… the minister throws it open to the congregation…………
they wouldn`t dare.
Well, I’m going to stick my neck out here and say, at the risk of being shot down in flames, that I think I’m in the ‘one reality, many observers’ camp.
There are forces that would have us each see a separate slice of reality, but through one common distorting lens. These trouble me.

alistair – at Uni our chaplain would have an open discussion session like you suggest, ‘after work’. (He was well cool: used to wear shades and a pale linen suit and drove a white Porsche [he married into some money, I believe]). The highlight was definitely the Baha’i who would come along: all religions are worshiping the same thing, in the Baha’i view of things… a view, he would explain, that would get his head nailed to a post at an intersection in some parts of the world.
I’m in that camp too. I believe in objective reality.
I think these forces are simply the manifestation of one consciousness in many bodies. You could also allow it to be celebrated as well as troubling.
Where are all the Satanists?
Seriously, someone promised that this place would be flooded with Satanists, and that got me all excited. Where are they?
All is One…….logically infallible…….ecstatic…..ego death
All is Two…….logicallly unsuportable… evolution…..delusion of objectivity….fear of One
All is Three….trinity breeds context…triangulation of reference point…..plane of existence
All is Four……illusion of time….directionality
eight…..sixteen…..blastula….Sixty four…..universal zygote…..billion……babel…….Googolplex…….. .One goes underground…….delusion of alienation……mass confusion…Ego expansion…runaway nflation… .All is inifinity…..explosion… resurection of One
speedbird, it`s the head nailed to a post thingy that i`m worried about.
i dated a girl on saturday who i knew 27 years ago and we talked on sunday for two hours about religion and her church. she recently read a book where they ask you to renounce all forms of divination, tarot, pendulum dowsing, crystal ball gazing, hypnsis, etc…….and i`m thinking, ok you know what i do and some of my beliefs as a student of divinity, so what`s going on here?
she wanted to discuss adam and eve and the snake and a god who gave us free will etc. and i though oh oh, i`d better change the subject here unless i want to be crucified……
but she wants to go out on friday, so we`ll see.
I’m a satanist

Creating reference points from an infinite sea of hot bloated acrid airacid. Making love out of nothing at all. [...]
