Common Reference Points
One of the things I like at the bottom of Lion’s datawake diagram is that he has a keyword cluster of books, media and movies. Social networking sites like MySpace obviously do this as well - and on my friend Mike Oliver’s blog, he has a “A list of books I have read” and “A list of movies I have seen” in his introduction area.
I have a feeling that, within a few years - when we are all living within increasingly specialized sub-variations of reality, these shared cultural reference points are going to become even more important. Basically because they will be shorthand meaning packages which you can use as language for exchanging value with other people. Not just that even, but for creating a shared dataspace (a perceptual realm, as it were).
