Notes On Volume

I have obviously begun writing a lot more lately. I don’t see it letting up any time soon. I recognize that it is a lot to absorb and that people like to keep up. So what I am going to more formally do is creating visual cues for certain type of information, so you can scroll quickly down many posts and know more or less what I’m talking about, and browse through quickly to the types of information “value” which you most enjoy feeding on (like flipping through a record collection of a friend). I’d like to begin encouraging people to think about scale in your interpretation of information: what effect does giving something a close read versus just scanning? Do different truths get expressed in each perceptual experience? So, you consider both as a teaching tool/example and also a practical matter of more effectively and consciously utilizing technologies available to us to impact our own thought processes for the better.

In retrospect, I did not practice what I preach in this post! - Fixed!

Also: think of it like making notes in a book to help you find information again more quickly later (which I’ve started doing like a madman to my books)

Added: I’ve noticed that by marking up books visually, I’m able to remember spatially where information is within a page and scan back through quickly to find themes and useful quotes.

I like the hypnotic suggestions you get from scanning through the text quickly now!
