I spent the day investigating the formation of a new mutual hype alliance, and also had a really productive meeting with the Strategist. From his book shelf he gave me the following gifts of knowledge to incorporate into my current training montage:
Blink by Malcolm Gladwell
Black Elk Speaks
Aikido and the Harmony of Nature
Safe and Sound: How Not to Get Lost in the Woods and How to Survive If You Do
Big Brands Big Trouble
The Screenwriter’s Problem Solver
A Short Account of the Destruction of the Indies
It is a great value exchange. I have a few things I am currently working through on my own as well. Just finished The Art of Peace (which I bestowed to the Strategist, along with Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations) last night and am still reading Epictetus. I also picked up a big collection of Thomas Paine, featuring Common Sense and Rights of Man. Jeffrey Brown’s hilarious Incredible Change-Bots. A Gandhi collection called All Men Are Brothers and the Tao of Jeet Kune Do, given to me By The Brooke™. Oh, and Michael Pollan’s “A Place of My Own” which is so far my least favorite of his books. Looking forward to getting through all these. There is a hell of a lot on my plate here for me it looks like!
