Sam Adams: Brewer, Patriot, Party Scientist
I don’t really like the beer put out by the Samuel Adams corporation nowadays. But I wonder how it used to taste back in the days of the Revolution. I’ve also wondered for a long time why a brewer would be so prominent in revolutionary politics. But now I get it: if you want something cool to happen, it helps if you can get a bunch of people together into the same space and then get everybody drunk. It’s simple party science…

I’ve been marvelling lately how little skills have to do with getting a job and how much knowing people counts. Good to see that’s how its always been.
