Google Books A Bad Idea?
Imagine all books go online and you can read and search for anything you want. Sounds awesome, right? Sounds like it would make research much easier, etc. But how can you verify that what an online scanned version of a book says is actually what the book itself says?
Arguably, you have this same problem of authentication with a regular print book: how do you know that the author whose name is on the cover in fact wrote all the contents of the book? In fact you don’t, and chances are an editor had their hands on it from the start.
I’m gonna have to go back and read Fahrenheit 451 again. We won’t need to burn books at all if they become technologically deprecated.
