Insurance Requires Fear

In that episode of Century of the Self, they talk about how the insurance companies began flipping out in the 1960’s when hippies realized they didn’t need to constantly worry about dieing and could live in the moment, succeed, enjoy themselves and help one another.

Insurance capitalizes on fear and social isolation: “No one will take care of my family after I die, because I have not taken care of anyone else’s family.”

This kind of logic appeals to me.

U.G. Krishnamurti once said to me that the need for a policeman on the beat is the same need for the possession of a nuclear weapon.

Fear has no levels. Fear is fear!

Unfortunately it is also the criteria on which most of societies values are based.

As it is said, “there is nothing to fear but fear itself”, but once this is recognized, all isolation ends.

    Thanks again, for the pointers.
