Eminem, M&M’s and the Mars Corporation

I have to wonder: is the rapper Eminem sponsored by the Mars Corporation? If he’s not, certainly they must be looking the other way legally as the term “Eminem” is an obvious reference to their product. Companies sue for that sort of thing all the time, and usually for much flimsier reasons. So there must be at least something going on here.

I can’t imagine there’s any kind of symbiotic relationship there. I would think they wouldn’t want to have anything to do with him. Maybe they’re just avoiding him.

(When I put the italics quicktag on “avoiding” just now, I noticed they’re “em” and “/em”. Spooky!)

Is there any correlation whatsoever with Eminem’s career and sales of the candy, either direct or inverse?

It’s not a matter of sales of the candy, but of keeping the words in the public consciousness. The candy itself has no inherent meaning.

    Maybe they’re just avoiding him.

I don’t accept that this has not at least been considered by the Mars Corporation. Whatever their policy is towards him now must have been a conscious decision.

Eminem is called Eminem because his birth name is Marshall Mathers.
