Wealth Is Infinite & Transcended For All

In a world where everybody is psychotic, no value is created for anybody, everything sucks. In a world where everybody loves each other deeply, wealth is infinite and transcended for all. We do not live in either of these worlds…yet for the world we live in, there is some most optimal set of viable “normal” human behaviors for creating wealth and beauty, and therefore, given the fact that behaviors are controlled by our information intake, there is some optimal stream of information for each person to intake to optimize the wealth and well-being of humanity.
The question I’ve pondered for years is: If we could find this optimal stream of information for each individual, would it the information in it be true? Or would it tell little white lies to get us to do things for the good of humankind…

My take is more like we’re bathed in the correct information already, we just have real trouble taking it in. It’s about ways of seeing, mote and beam. To see, you need a way of seeing. Ways of seeing can distort. The problem is one of producing clear-sightedness. No, I don’t have an answer to that one.

speedbird, really good post. I’ve thought a lot about that as well, that there is simply too much information for us all to take it in, so we actually need to reduce it to symbols, or like myths. And our brains kind of do that automatically. But some of these simplifications work a lot better than others, so there is some set of “optimal symbolic representations” for anybody’s life. Its really too big and complicated to think about for people, but it would be interesting to reduce it down to games or something you could model on a computer. What set of “myths” could a robot player believe in (where myths dictate its playing strategy) that would make it win the most at chess for instance?

Svenson, you’re inadvertently describing an idea for a social networking interface system I’ve been thinking about for months. If you have the inclination, we should start hammering out some ideas over email and getting into some broader (as well as more specific) topics than we can hit here on the site. This is why I want to start blogging again. It is about customizing my own information intake. As I graze information from various sources, I want to retain the bits that are uplifting or useful. I also am conscious of the fact that anyone who aggregates or highlights information is an archivist. As an archivist of the present, I want to preserve and highlight art and ideas that present our world in the best possible light.
It has to do with Tim’s idea of being an antenna, of the world around us reflecting our own feeling-states. I want to build up a repository of thoughts, links, images, music, video, that contributes to a good feeling-state for myself (and hopefully others).
The tagline that popped into my head the other night is “blogging as self creation.”
