When you go to someone else’s house to visit, bring a gift. Then, when they come visit you, they’ll bring a gift. Creating this spirit of “habitual giving” is a surefire remedy for the scarcity blues. Scarcity is just one way of thinking about your possessions. Abundance is another way of thinking - which happens to be more fun because you get to share it with other people. Consumables (food, liquor), I think, make the best gifts because they can be shared amongst a group of people and are fleeting: they help you to celebrate the moment, which is all we really have. That and each other.
