Inner Politics

Excellent Jane Roberts quote, as a follow-up to Marvin Minsky’s Society of Mind quote from a few days ago.

Each reader is invited to participate in the debates and decisions within their own personality: “Each personality contains an inner civilization of the self which he yearns to govern … The ego rises from the civilization of the psyche just as a leader rises from the masses of the people; appointed, chosen, or taking control according to an inner politics first existing within the greater inner mind.” Our own subjective experience does alter those politics in turn, constantly changing the ground rules for ourselves and for others.

This is such amazing stuff. I was just thinking about society of mind when a friend wrote me about an epiphone where she realized a book she was reading (I can’t remember the name) didn’t actually have a plot, it was rather a commentary on how language literally writes our world. Then she went on to make a commentary about her cat, which had the same name as somebody else in my life, and seemed to be a perfect metaphor for what was happening with this other person as well. It tripped me out, it made me think words had a life of their own, and we were just manifesting them in some way, which is somehow related.

    The Logos.

God’s gift to us is the ability to speak Truth into existence. “Let there be light.”

Except it’s not just our words, it is our actions which bring Truth into this world:

I can’t find the proof of the oversoul. Am I doomed?

Oh sorry that was a directed comment; it should have been notated as such. You’ll find your proof of the oversoul
