“Placeless Living”

Term to describe marketing trend I’m seeing:

  1. AT&T Your Seamless World
  2. “Live anywhere and join the new rich” (Subtitle of Tim Ferriss’ book)

Taken together, these items seem to indicate an attitude being expressed culturally which connects wealth, technology and travel. Presumably, the personality sub-type being conditioned via this trend (to which I belong myself), is someone who relies on modern technology to make money. The money they make gives them the freedom to explore, or incites the need to do business in diverse non-local regions.

This trend is probably a natural outgrowth of people becoming acclimated to the internet as not just a means of communicating information, but as a model for organizing their lives. Processes and activities are distributed amongst many locations (web “sites”) and many members.

More on this soon.

From my slightly paranoid perspective these are things that sound too good to be true. It’s like ads for smoking. Sure people ride horses or play beach volleyball and are blissfully happy but not while they’re smoking. The smoke is real and the happiness is real but I feel like I’m being sold one w/o concern for the other.
