Communications Between Internets



Let’s say that in the future, they -hypothetically - created multiple separate internets which were mostly exclusive of one another save for some necessary shared nodes (ie, a rich people’s and poor people’s internet with highly secure wormholes connecting each), what would be the best ways for people on different internets to interact with one another?

    1) Fibre optic, meet shovel.

    2) The internets won’t be directly connected. Interactions will occur in an intermediary zone, like the opposite of a DMZ, a place where everyone’s ambassador-bots can test each other, negotiate and settle differences without inflicting the conflict on their own civilian populations. A virtual Middle East, if you will. Personally, I wouldn’t (see #1).

    But the thing is, there’ll be fucking millions of these interaction zones implemented for different purposes and available to different customers. It’s gonna suck awesome.

    Our modern equivalent is called “consensus reality”

    IF you have 2 computers each accessible to the other on a network in your house, they are conceivably making up a closed “internet”.
    The internet is a series of closed networks, allowed to be joined together.
    “They” don’t have to create it, it just is that way.
    Now, you can create an exclusive country club of a network that only the chosen few can access. So then where does a poor boy fit into this? Why he’d be serving drinks or tending the grounds…what is the internet equivalent of serving drinks?
    Maybe writing the code or maintaining the servers / networks…hey then it will be a poorboy’s honeypot for the rich maybe, see what they get up to in thier exclusive domain…someone’s got to do the work to keep it running and maintain the data.
