Super Gigantic Book & DVD Sale!!!
Inspired by A.J. Jacobs’ book, I’m trying to follow literally this part of the New Testament:
“Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.”
This is a theme I’ve been hitting again and again this year in my life. Letting go of possessions and obsessions, of ideas you hold about yourself and of other people, of habits and patterns you no longer need. Travelling these past few years with almost no possessions has taught me a great deal. So when I was reunited recently with a bunch of boxes I’d put into storage several years ago, I realized what I had to do: get rid of them. And at rock bottom prices.
I sold a ton of books a couple years back through this website and had some excellent results with it. So I thought I would do the same thing again. The following is a list of books I have which I would like to part with. They are far too many to list on eBay, and they are all books (and movies) which I’m sure would be of interest to people who read my site. So I’d like to give you guys first crack at it.
How This Works
Email me what books or DVD’s you want, along with a reasonable offer and your mailing address. Be sure to add on and appropriate amount extra for shipping. I’m not looking to make a killing here (similarly, don’t try to rip me off!); I just want to get rid of things so I can move on with my life (and hopefully pay down remaining debts). I will email you back my acceptance of your offer and to make sure the requested books are still available. You pay me via PayPal and I ship your books out within a few days. Simple. Everything is first come first served. Items which are no longer available will be crossed off deleted from the list.
Thanks for playing. Oh, and my birthday is this Saturday, January 5th. I’ll be 28 years old. If you feel like giving me a little extra money because it’s my birthday and I’m awesome, feel free to do so!
PS. If you want to know what any of these books or movies are, look them up on Amazon, duh! Shipping within the United States only, sorry!

Not to take this too literally …
I remember my Darwin and Darwinism teacher talking about this … how there something odd about giving away all your possessions to the poor, since only the poor will inherit the earth. If you give away all your money to them won’t that hurt their chances of inheriting the earth. Blah, blah, blah….
All the same - if you’re giving away all your things, are you enabling in the continued possession-obsessions of other people?

Yeah, I don’t know. People can do whatever they want. It’s not my decision to make. Someone else may find value in having these things where I find value in being done with them.

Too bad you can’t ship down here to Australia or I would pick up a few of those, as they are hard to get down here.
Hey happy birthday, have fun and stuff

Steve, if you could put together information about shipping prices from Baltimore, Maryland to your location in Australia, and include an appropriate amount to cover shipping in your offer, I would happily consider it. I mostly included the USA-only line to cover my ass and make sure I’m not spending all the money I make from this on shipping.

Happy Birthday Mister Boucher,
I have all the PKD books on this list and some more to boot. At one time, I didn’t think I would ever want to part with them, but recently I’ve been thinking, yeah you know drop em in a second hand book store and let someone else strike gold.
Funny how you change with time. BTW, u r one hell of a lot wiser at 28 than I was, for what it’s worth (i’ve never really been all that wise just to put that comment in perspective…)

I am selling everything I have too and going to Alaska in the Spring. I want just a backpack on my back when I go.
Just me and the open road. But don’t worry, I am not planning to live all alone in an abondoned school bus and eat wild potato seeds.
I think its coll how you are selling all your books one by one and shipping them to people. I will sell what I can at a used bookstore and give the rest to a Library.

Thanks! I may end up in Alaska sooner or later as well. Good luck and keep me posted, my friend!

I think you’d like it Tim. All the stuff you do now you can do up there, plus a lot more. Maybe we can meet up in Seattle and take the Ferry together through the inside passage. June is the best time to go, because its 18 hour daylight!
The cheapest fare allowy you to camp in a tent on a big deck. The ferry stops in all these different ports. I’ve never done it but know people who have.
