    the internerd replaced the telegraph and letter courier networks that were in place. in a lot of big cities they even had pneumatic tube systems that would deliver messages for businessmen.

    the postal service also used to have at least 2 daily pickups, in Europe prior to the telegraph, the letter culture (around same time as the Salon culture) was huge.

    so if the trend continues, we’ll just get more and more diffuse and refined distribution networks.
