Creative Tactical Protest
Via Ran Prieur:
I’ve often attacked “symbolic protest,” where people replay the 60’s like Civil War reenactors, marching, waving signs, chanting “Hey ho, hey ho, bla bla bla has got to go,” and making zero difference. But it occurred to me, maybe the problem is not that these protests are symbolic, but that they’re so tired and uncreative. Symbolism can be extremely powerful. Suppose there is such a thing as an effective symbolic protest — what would it look like?
I read somewhere that what would really freak out the ruling powers is if street protests were highly organized. Instead of looking like a bunch of people in ordinary clothes taking a stroll, what if we synchronized our colors, so that everyone was wearing, say, red shirts and black pants, and we went out and practiced in playing fields until we could march in formation and synchronize the same motions. They wouldn’t have to be military-style motions — we could do somersaults, twirls, leaps, anything. The important thing is that we’re all doing the same thing at the same time. This would send a message to the rulers and to each other that we are focused, disciplined, and capable of the same level of organization in tactical mass actions, if necessary.
I’ve often wondered about this: how long would it take to get yourself arrested if you went out after work every day with 50-100 other people and practiced synchronized exercises?
What he’s describing above is pretty much EXACTLY why groups like Falun Gong / Dafa are so dangerous to the Red Chinese.

Hm, that’s called an orchestra. You could probably get away with Tai Chi too. (actually, I believe there’s some historical evidence suggesting that’s one reason it evolved in the first place - an ‘acceptable’ way of practising self-defence and self-discipline)
And what about those people all dressed in the same dark suit working in the City?
