What’s the cardinal connection?

Is it just that they are both red or is there some historical, mythical or other connection?

   They are both red, both members of the Catholic Clerical hierarchy, but the birds use birdseed and bird bathwater instead of wine and communion wafers.

   He was one of the worst of the cover up artists in the priest sex abuse cases that came to light. Now not only are there sexual abuse victims but the loyal parishioners in LA County have to pay out $660 million.
