I’ve still not heard anything back after emailing Facebook about deleting my account. You’d think it would be no sweat, right? I still don’t see - from the customer’s standpoint - why you’d benefit from not being able to delete a profile yourself: ie, from not having final control over data you enter into someone else’s system….

Shortly after writing this, the Facebook support team wrote me back with a personalized confirmation that my account details had been eliminated from their system. I foresee that in the not so distant future of business technology and communication on the web as being a useful thing to have in writing.
They could give two craps about your customer standpoint… lol - odds are you’ll be back anyway.
