I'm currently involved with Gilbert &#38; Sulllivan's operetta 'Ruddigore'. The plot gives me food for thought in the context of things I've read here...

The Bad Baronet of Ruddigore is cursed. He must commit a crime every day, or be murdered by the ghosts of his ancestors and perish in terrible agony. In the end, he decides consciously to stand up to his oppressors... for that would be tantamount to suicide!... which is, of course, a crime!... thus breaking the curse.</description>
