Someday, I think the keyboards we have now will be replaced by keyboards made up entirely of a semantic emoticon/reference point language. Almost like how the cash registers at a fast food place just have pictures of hamburgers or fries on them.

Man, oh, man…that picture of Mithras slaughtering the bull brings me back! If I still had a vocation for conspiracy poetics, I’d go on and on about the numbers 32 and 33 behind that there statue. Instead I’ll just smile and go, doot-dee-doot-doot!
Just bringing it full circle. time was, or so they say (whoever “they” are) that folks used to read images like the one in your post…densely packed with layers of messaging all in one compact picture. Emoticons seem to be a return to that, though in a more cutesy, less “deep” way. The end of literacy may simply be the end of abstract symbolic language in exchange for concrete symbolic language.
Yeah, I don’t know what I’m sayin,’ either!
Yeah I know what you’re talking about but I don’t know how to put it into words exactly though. Glad the Mithra thing put it into the right direction… It has something to do, in my little sci-fi playground, with constructing four dimensional symbols out of light, through spoken commands, frequencies and phonemes, which you can then transmit as concrete perceptible objects to other humans
One of my favourite pictures of all time..
