It has something to do, in my little sci-fi playground, with constructing four dimensional symbols out of light, through spoken commands, frequencies and phonemes, which you can then transmit as concrete perceptible objects to other humans</description>

		<description>Man, oh, man...that picture of Mithras slaughtering the bull brings me back!  If I still had a vocation for conspiracy poetics, I'd go on and on about the numbers 32 and 33 behind that there statue.  Instead I'll just smile and go, doot-dee-doot-doot!

Just bringing it full circle.  time was, or so they say (whoever "they" are) that folks used to read images like the one in your post...densely packed with layers of messaging all in one compact picture.  Emoticons seem to be a return to that, though in a more cutesy, less "deep" way.  The end of literacy may simply be the end of abstract symbolic language in exchange for concrete symbolic language.
