Illusion of Control In Emergent Systems

Cool post over at Zac’s Place about the Singularity:

I reject any notion that any of this is orchestrated or controlled. These idiots can barely control themselves in front of the press, never mind some baroque illuminst conspiracy. It also flies in the face of everything I know about systems and nonlinear dynamics. Conspiracy is a comfort to those who need to believe that somebody is in control. Doesn’t mean they don’t try, just that they can’t really succeed.

you actually linked to the post right before the one that text is from. and it’s not really about ‘the’ singularity the way most people use that word. except perhaps in the sense that all these financial speculative bodies are using AI’s to control their market positions a million times a second, and really it’s the AI program traders that are driving us over the cliff, possibly.

in that sense, the technological singularity has already happened, and we missed it. now the machines are turning us into broken down units of profit faster than we can stop them. but they’re just doing what we made them to do. it’s a totally stupid hyper intelligent swarm that couldn’t care less about human life. no wonder hanky panky paulson is so scared looking. he knows if they pull the plug, everything goes into an asymptotic meltdown, so all he can do is feed the AI’s so they don’t turn on us…

Its a conspiracy of controlled demolition. Just like Oklahoma city and 9/11.

The system is really over leveraged and lible to collapse eventually like a house of cards. Big skyscrapers eventually would fall down.

But controlled demolition is about controlled chaos. A desired result. A real terrorist attack is messy, but a fake false flag one is easier to control.

The same with the economy. People with absolutely no faith in any kind of inherent goodness in the Universe don’t leave things to fate or chance.

Chaos is the anti-thesis of what these people are about ironically enough. Controlled chaos is a means to an end.

“emergent systems” is a just a weasel word phrase too. It doesn’t mean anything. Robb annd Vail are big into using that phrase. The foundation of that idea is that consciousness or “mind” is an emergent property of the Brain.

That’s a big philosophical dividing line. I think if you start from there as a basic assumption then nothing good can come of any conclusions based on that.

It just renders everything in the Universe dead.

A Spiritual view has spirit and not matter as the foundation. Its the opposite.

hahaha… not exactly what I was saying, but close.

Our reliance on programs is getting us in trouble. They can’t make mistakes, they are creatures to which the nature of impermanence means nothing. Yet without impermanence, we all just burning alive for eternity…

They’re not bad inherently, we just can’t rely on them.
