Made this one up the other day, it started out as a play on words around the web application programming concept of a querystring. It’s the bit of info you’ll sometimes see appended at the end of a URL, which usually is kicked off by a ?value=2 sort of syntax, though many variations exist. This exercise, while based in web technology paradigms, is intended to open up communications channels with your subconscious mind and the spirit world. We do that through ritualized use of language, hooked into physical actions and objects.
Steps
- Come up with a word, phrase or question which you’d like to create an urban shaman “querystring” for. The best types of queries deal with esoteric, hidden, secret or other types of unusual non-normal information, intelligence or wisdom.
- Find some lengths of twine, cord, rope, wire or anything you can braid together which “feels right” or has an appropriate sympathetic vibrational resonance to the working you’re undertaking.
- Knot the ends of three equal lengths of cord together. Braid them together in any simple repeating pattern you can manage, all the while repeating in a low whisper the query terms you’re assigning to this braided urban shaman query.
- When you’re done, knot the completed end. Figure out what would be the best use of your new query string. I’ve been using mine as bracelets or anklets, and have also used them to bind together other ritual objects. Further, you can braid together multiple completed querystrings into an “ultradynamic” thread. For best results, only braid together intentional querystrings of like or sympathetic vibrations.
After first inventing this oblique technique, it took me less than 12 hours to get a full-on response from my subconscious or from the spirit world on one of my search terms. It arrived in the form of a dream, in which actors were using one of the four terms I had invoked, which was the term “urban shaman” itself. Unfortunately, I don’t consciously remember the contents of the dream. I recommend tracking your results over time, in order to open, maintain and tune communications channels with the Other World. I’ve not yet experimented with this technique enough to know what the proper method of disposal for your querystrings is: letting them fall off on their own, disintegration through natural means, cutting with scissors, etc.
