Gambling is about the only secular routine where you're encouraged to be totally open to intuition. (It feels really good but food and the internet serve all of my addiction needs.) Basically you have to focus and unfocus at the same time. The horses, cards, etc. symbols for something that's inside of you. In order to succeed you have to fail, give up and ride the wave. You know your a loser for being there. The house always wins. You've agreed to give up and give yourself up to a group experience of ecstasy. I think the racetrack is the best place to see the group aspect. The track is also the most overtly sexual. Each race has winners and losers and you can feel the crowd's emotions change minute by minute. During the race it gets faster and faster then, pow, it's over and you can do it again.
