WordPress plugins I’m currently running

Most of these I have been using for a long time, so I’m not sure some of the functionality has been included into WP 2.7 or what. Some of the links back to their authors are also no longer valid, so you’re on your own as far as finding the ones I don’t list links for below. There are probably also newer/better versions of a lot of these which I encourage you to experiment with, but watch out for plugin bloat!

  1. Comment Form Quicktags- Adds bold, italic, etc links to the comment box
  2. Akismet - anti-spammery
  3. Auto-close comments - (can’t find a link) allows me to shut off comments after a certain number of days
  4. Batch image upload - creates a page with a multi-upload box. You can set how many boxes, and it will even resize images down if you want.
  5. Comment License - inserts a Terms of Service for commenters
  6. Get Recent Comments - allows me to put together the “TRUTH EXCHANGE” link to posts with recent visitor activity
  7. Link truncator - When people post long links into comments, it modifies their appearance so they don’t break the layout.
  8. Moderate trackbacks - Was seeing a lot of trackback spam a while ago, this helps manage that.
  9. Random posts - lets me pop in random posts from my archive into the sidebar
  10. Recent posts - running this but don’t have it installed in my code as of yet, does the same thing as the random posts, but with most recent items
  11. Text Link Ads - allows me to insert paid links into the sidebar of the main page.
  12. Twitter for WordPress - sucks in recent Twitter posts from any username and puts them in my sidebar.
  13. WP-ContactForm - lets me snap in a simple clean contact form into a page.

Anybody have other cool plugins they mess with? Drop names and links in comments below. I’m also considering a variety of multimedia options to allow cross-platform and cross-device communication between readers of my site and me, and hopefully with one another.

    Thanks for the headups. I can also recommend Hashcash which is an anti-spam plugin that will remove all bot spam.
