Follow-up to yesterday’s cross-blog conversation about Mandala OS and the I Ching + divination:
I think that the I Ching can be used, not only as a divination tool, but as a mirror. The I Ching can be thought of as alive, like it’s own ecosystem of information that not only changes, but affects what it comes into to contact with.
As for gambling, only fools gamble, or the bored. People who truly want to win only take calculated risks.
I think the key to an OS is its Open Ambiguity. Once the Os starts to dictate how you do what you want to do, it has lost its servile nature and its platform like structure. A Platform lifts, it holds in place, it allows you to reach for different things. I think the ambiguity involved with the I Ching, even more so than the Tarot, presents a or sort of Open OS freeness as a platform for divination or “checking one’s self”. Of course, one should never have the OS dictate how you operate, only how you can use the system to get what you want done.
Thanks for stopping by. I like the tmbchr alert that you started. It’s sort of like a Batsignal or the Red Phone, but sent out all over the wire.
