Synaesthesia, Sensory Substitution, Sensation-Swapping

It occurred to me while under the effects of my home Ganzfeld tests that the imagery we recently looked at with the BrainPort device which allowed the blind to “see” through their tongue is oddly similar to the phylactery or tefillin, an object used for prayer in Judaism.
