Spent the last 11 hours doing theatrical carpentry. First at my semi-regular job, then helping out a friend at the independnt theatre they run out of their loft space. It’s nice to be able to get into one of those grooves where you just go-go-go. Sounds like I may be getting into a lot more of that sort of thing. Found out today that the production department wants me to be on run-crew for the upcoming show, Anton Chekhov’s 1904 piece, The Cherry Orchard (full English text here). Apparently in addition to doing regular backstage duties, I may also be drafted into at least one scene where there is dancing. So I may even get some stage time out of it. Should be a great experience. Sitting here looking at my calendar… if all my connections and various programs I’m trying for work out smoothly, I may have just mapped out the next six months of my life. Will be trying to fill in what little downtime I have during the next couple months I’m in Baltimore continuing on my course of learning electrics, electronics, welding and metal work. Sometimes you reach one of those points where you just gotta knuckle down and get it all done. And when you come out the other side of it all – well who knows. It’s too much for me to all imagine right this second. I plan on just keeping my nose to the grindstone for the next few. And when I wake up from it all, I’ll be off doing something which will be hopefully even more amazing and interesting. That’s the goal anyway, onward and upward!
