US Bikeways System - Symbol Proposal

Not sure just how advanced the concept is at this stage of the game, but I was thinking that it would be interesting if the United States shut down a portion of its roads and highway system to create a comprehensive bike-only transportation network in America. Exploring other resources on the Adventure Cycling Association website for detailed route information northwards along Atlantic Coast.

Had been visualizing this symbol last night during meditation, now maybe I know why: the six-spoked “wheel of life.” Expect Obama on a bicycle as the weather gets nice. Seriously though, an interstate bicycle route system in the United States that had full governmental, infrastructual and commercial support would be a simply amazing thing. Re-organizing our transportation system alone would probably swing us fully out of the “economic downturn”, or has it been upgraded to crisis yet?

Although the air mail and the motor truck have attained a permanent place in the United States Postal Service, Joseph Krause, one of Washington’s veteran carriers still covers his extensive suburban route on a bicycle. Krause was a member of the J. Gordon Lennett expedition to the North Pole in 1881 and has been on the Postal Service over twenty years.
