It may not be much of an explanation, but I’m trying to find some happy medium between the all-out image spews and some of the more stream-of-consciousness web assemblage stuff I’ve been doing:

1. Actually, to be honest, I have no idea how I found that one but, rest assured, I found it SHOCKING and MARVELOUS!!

2. Religious candles, found through Google Image Ripper while searching for the term, I think, “god of surprises.”

3. Another GIR find (like most of these), but I can’t recall the terms that brought it here. I like how the blues and the multiples fit somehow into the previous image.

4. Some cool, possibly Communist (?), Chinese sages - or something - writing the things that are important to them on the walls of heaven, presumably.

5. Was looking for photos of park rangers and came across this image which I thought had a very dramatic caption. Makes you want to know what happened to the others.

6. Somehow the word “Obongo” came to mind recently, and looked it up online only to discover some seemingly White Supremicists using it as a disparaging term for the dude. I’m not so into that, but I do like the mask and the juxtaposition with the little kid.

7. Cool old timey park ranger / dude living out in the woods type imagery - which I’m really into right now!

8. Whereas in real life now, most of these people look (lovably) dorky.

9. Love how kooky this guy looks like, but you can tell by that beard and his stance and demeanor that he knows what is truly up.

10. Discovered what appears to be a scanned theatre union costume design document of a park ranger.

11. Old timey Civil War era camping in the Ozarks. I like this aesthetic.

12. Some kind of park ranger using a cool handheld digital device to gather data in the wild. This looks like fun to me.

13. An aerial reconnaissance crew from I don’t know when exactly.

14. Classic old-guy-looking forest ranger.

15. Love that one, now that looks like a blast.

16. Not sure where this one’s from either, but found along a “recon” lateral search trail.

17. Central or South American mural, it looks like, of a rebellious mob.

18. Revolutionary War battle, very dramatic drawing.

19. Some video game recreation of a battle situation.

20. This picture is funny enough, but the text over the top of it makes it one of my favorite recent non-sequitur finds. Caught along the “ranger” train of thought, as in Tolkien, D&D etc.

21. Plastic American militia figurines.

22. Not sure who this is, but the file name is “standing-ranger.jpg” and I like the uniform; it’s vaguely like what I’m wearing in the show.

23. Map of the carved boulders around Dogtown, Massachusetts.

24. Looks like they’re starting to capitalize on the sort of “synchromystical adventure” subculture strain, eh? Interesting to see if that type of marketing gets any traction in larger circles.

25. Totally cool, reminded me of Garrett and I sent it to him.

26. Evidently, a strip of black tape over a badge means that an officer is in mourning for a fallen comrade

27. Cool-looking kids from the Warsaw Uprising, I believe. Found some cool links about the Jewish resistance in WWII, along with the Underground Polish State. Links are scattered in my current linkblog.

28. Hilariously decadent hip hop imagery combining street life with military service references.

29. Graphical depiction of a ham radio repeater network with VoiP components - another thing I’ve been actively tracking as a subject.

30. Wickedly amazing monument I found by accident of somebody I can’t remember (Hey, I didn’t say these were all going to be *good* explanations!)

31. Stills from Kevin Costner’s “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.” Supposedly, Costner’s first acting role on screen was a dead body. His scene was later cut.

32. Army dudes from somewhere or another… Been buying clothes at H&H Outdoors in Baltimore, an army-navy place.

33. One man bivvy-style tent - looks expensive!

34. Army pup tents, apparently with pup tents each soldier does or would have carried half of a tent which is then joined together with someone else’s to form the full tent.

35. Don’t know how I came across this one, but these look like people I would probably know.

36. Found this via a GIR search for “chemin” the French for path or trail

37. Shows each bird and I believe a spectral analysis of the signature sound it makes.

38. This is ripping off and riffing on too many cultural references to count - and it’s STILL lame! Go figure. Found under a “seeker” image search, following in the pilgrim theme.

39. Deer with snow on their faces - too cute!

40. Have been doing some light reading on the history of the military use of bicycles. Pretty interesting. Look up “bicycle infantry” on Wikipedia and YouTube for more fun.

41. I love how fucked up this one is.

42. Those ranger hats are so dorky!

43. I guess this one probably came from a “Hellmouth” search. I’ve been doing a lot of symbolist searching into the depths and darks, if you will…

44. Love the wheelbarrow as a symbol. Was trying to find one that was the tipped over wheelbarrow with nice dark soil flowing out of it… I can picture it in my mind’s eye.

45. Totally goofy, yet oddly accurate depiction of what an artist really is: a ridiculous showoff.

46. Some kinda Jesus crap. Harrowing of Hell must have been the keywords that yielded this one.

47. Army Rangers in WWII. I found out, halfway through writing this that the Orioles played the Rangers tonight in Texas. Maybe I was channeling the zeitgeist?

48. Another instance of the black tape of mourning across a badge. When I first saw this, I thought they were trying to obfuscate the badge number, but obviously this isn’t the case.

49. Another map of the inscribed boulders in the deserted village of Dogtown, Massachusetts.

50. Must have come up with the ranger search.

51. I think I found this awesome fellow via an image search for something like “trail guide.”

52. Chladni patterns for alphabet sounds. I was trying to find a consistent scientific imaging of the various sounds in the English language and the cymatic effects they have on matter.

53. Another cymatic image.

54. “Collapse of mammoth proportions” text is embedded in file name. Not sure which search yielded this, but it’s a great image.

55. Found this via an image search for “rebel leader” and that’s a great portrait, whatever the man stands for - I don’t know.

56. A bunch of soldiers pushing field artillery over the Alps.

57. Vibrational pattern of the surface of a drum head, from what I understand. Think I found this while searching around the subject “standing wave.”

58. Random field radio equipment. Have been trying to fetishize the objects of radio artifacts in conjunction with my theoretical studies in same.

59. Another cool image of Jesus Harrowing Hell and freeing the Righteous Pagans.

60. Another great doorway-to-hell type picture found while looking for visual references around park rangers.

61. Some kind of tactical configuration I didn’t quite grasp the significance of but liked the looks of regardless.

62. Found this a few days ago via image search for “ineffable”, the definition of which was apparently a huge item on Google search trends in the USA a few days back.

63. Nice little kid pic with wheelbarrow theme on-going.

64. One of the inspirational Depression-era boulders from Dogtown, Massachusetts.

65. Another one, this time with a dog, appropriately enough.

66. I like how defeatist this picture is.

#60 looks slightly like the water hole I dreamed about following an I Ching reading. No tree in the dream and the soil was reddish.
Well, I’m about to do an I Ching reading, so I will get back to you. I’m going to input some of the synchronistic feeds that have been coalescing around my field of vision lately.
Pulled 55. These clips strike relevant tones with the symbolist phenomena at hand:
